There is an easy business in the middle of AI features: buy tokens wholesale, mark them up, sell them as “AI credits”. Most SaaS products with AI in them do exactly this, and the pricing page usually says so in small print.
We decided not to. You connect your own key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or any compatible provider, and the AI features use it.
What that changes for you
- You see real usage on your provider's dashboard, not a credit balance we define.
- You pick the model. If a better one ships next month, you switch — you are not waiting for us.
- No markup on tokens. Plans still differ in how much AI they include — Starter is capped, Growth is unlimited — but what you pay us is for the product, not the inference.
- Your data goes to a provider you already have a relationship and a contract with.
What it costs us
A revenue line, and some support burden — bring-your-own-key means a setup step, and a customer without a key sees the AI features switched off rather than working out of the box.
We think that is the right trade. The alternative is a pricing model where our margin grows with every query you run, which quietly puts us on the wrong side of wanting you to use the product more.
Where the AI actually runs
AI is not one feature here. It reaches across all 18 modules — scoring organizations against your ICP, drafting follow-ups from real deal context, turning meeting notes into tasks, reading a CSV and mapping its columns, extracting a lead from a photographed business card.
Every one of those calls uses your key. None of them route through an account of ours.
